Outstanding two-year-old Tokyo Tycoon will head to the spelling paddock after his victory in Saturday’s Gr.1 Sistema Stakes (1200m) at Pukekohe.

The son of Satono Aladdin had been a $13 chance in the Gr.1 Australian Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) at Randwick on April 1.

However, on Sunday Te Akau Racing confirmed that the undefeated galloper would head for a break as per their original plan.

The Mark Walker-trained juvenile has won all five of his starts, including the Karaka Million 2YO (1200m) and the Gr.3 Matamata Slipper (1200m) in addition to Saturday’s Group One.

Tokyo Tycoon was purchased as a yearling by Te Akau principal David Ellis in March last year at the Karaka Book 1 Sale, paying $125,000 for the then colt from the draft of Rich Hill Stud.

The gelding has now won $832,025 in prizemoney.
