Treaty of Paris cleared maiden ranks in style at Cambridge on Wednesday when dominating his opposition in the Magnum Industries 2000.

The son of Tavistock settled midfield for jockey Warren Kennedy before the expat South African asked his charge to improve at the 800m and the pair quickly took charge of the race.

They kept a solid tempo up front and opened up a five-length margin on their rivals when turning for home, eventually running out 7-3/4 length victors over stablemate Rare Company, who dead-heated for second with Good Time Garry.

It was the three-year-old gelding’s second start on the synthetic surface, having finished runner-up over the same course and distance late last month.

“It was a very nice win today and I think having been schooling and having had a hurdle trial has really got his mind on the job,” trainer Mark Walker said.

“He looks the type to continue improving as he matures and gets stronger, and it won’t be his last win over ground.”
