The countdown to New Zealand Bloodstock’s 2025 National Weanling Sale is underway, with a compact, yet quality catalogue of 134 youngsters now available to view online at www.nzb.co.nz.

Set to be held on Thursday 26 June at Karaka, the sale offers an abundance of opportunity for both pinhookers and end users to secure quality stock, with the session a proven source of racetrack and investment success.

Recent stakes-performers sourced from this sale include Jedibeel, Pivotal Ten, plus Group One winners Pignan, Callsign Mav, Jennifer Eccles, and Karaka Millions 2YO (1200m) winner Tokyo Tycoon.

Buyers will have the opportunity to secure progeny of established sires Proisir, Savabeel, Super Seth, Shamexpress, Almanzor, Per Incanto and Shocking, plus emerging sires Ace High, Ardrossan, Satono Aladdin, Sword of State, U S Navy Flag and Hello Youmzain, to name a few.

“We are pleased with the catalogue assembled, it is a great opportunity for local pinhookers, traders and end-users alike,” NZB’s Bloodstock Sales Manager Kane Jones.

“We’ve seen some outstanding pinhooking results from this sale, with a number of weanlings proving profitable within a relatively short timeframe.

“Plus, the record these graduates have on the track speaks volumes, from just a small catalogue each year.”

The 2025 edition of the National Weanling Sale will welcome progeny of Windsor Park Stud’s first season sire Profondo to the Karaka sales ring. With nine lots on offer, the son of Deep Impact made a big impression on breeders in his first season at stud, covering 177 mares.

“He was well supported by breeders in his first and now second year. He is a talented son of Deep Impact and an asset to our breeding ranks," Jones said.

“There is healthy demand for our New Zealand product, given our domination on racetracks across the likes of Australia and Hong Kong in recent seasons.

“There is certainly something for everybody and the Karaka Millions eligibility is a big bonus.

All weanlings offered are eligible to be nominated for NZB’s lucrative Karaka Millions Series. Graduates can compete for a share in the $1 million TAB Karaka Millions 2YO (1200m), followed by the $1.5 million TAB Karaka Millions 3YO (1600m), as well as the new $1 million Mega Maiden Series comprising of 40 non-Saturday maiden races located throughout New Zealand.
