Kiwi filly to chase massive bonus

Gallant filly She’s Licketysplit will be running for a seven-figure windfall when she fronts up in the Gr.1 Empire Rose Stakes (1600m) at Flemington.

The daughter of Turn Me Loose is eligible for a A$1 million bonus if she can add victory in the October 29 weight-for-age feature to her success in the Gr.2 Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m).

“That’s the plan at this stage and she’ll get to the Empire Rose with a light weight (49kg) and is up for the bonus,” trainer Andrew Forsman said.

She’s Licketysplit won the Edward Manifold before finishing a brave third in the Gr.1 Thousand Guineas (1600m) at Caulfield on Wednesday. A replacement rider will be required with regular partner Damian Lane unable to make the Empire Rose weight.

“She has had a couple of quiet days and she seems bright and well,” Forsman said. “There’s a bit to play out on Saturday and then we’ll make the call on Sunday or Monday as to who will ride her.”
