Christmas is coming early at Pukekohe Park this Saturday, with the South Auckland track hosting the biggest meeting on its calendar – the MyRacehorse Counties Cup Day.
MyRacehorse Counties Cup Day is a staple on the local social calendar, and this year’s edition is building to be its best yet, with plenty of action taking place both on and off the track.
High quality racing will be the focal point of the day, with four stakes races taking place on the 10-race card, including the Gr.2 Dunstan Horsefeeds Auckland Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes (1400m), Gr.3 MyRacehorse Counties Cup (2100m), Gr.3 Haunui Farm Counties Bowl (1400m) and Listed Counties Challenge Stakes (1100m).
Away from the racing action, fashionistas will get the chance to show off their style in the Caci Pukekohe Style Stakes, where an assortment of prizes are up for grabs in three categories – Caci Pukekohe Best Dressed Woman, Appetite Crowd Favourite and Belinda Green Millinery Maiden.
The on-course fashion competition will be judged by 2019 Myer Fashions on the field National winner Carena West, well-known broadcaster Matty McLean, and Te Akau Marketing Manager Julia-Rose Hayes.
There will be fun for all ages, with free children’s entertainment, including a bouncy castle, mini golf, face painting and ponies to pat, while there will also be the chance to meet some equine legends of racing, as part of the behind the scenes tours, taking place as part of National Thoroughbred Week.
General Admission is free, while racegoers over the age of 18 can join the party in The Lane, in association with The Grand Tour Racing Festival, where there will be live music all day on The Grand Mix by Smirnoff Stage, including Ben Parkes, Hamish Crocker and Sean Hill, keeping the vibes high all day.
Tickets to The Lane cost $85, or $110 on the day, which includes a drink on arrival, a food voucher to the precinct’s exclusive food truck, live music, a racebook, onsite betting facilities and access to the all-new two-story Speight's Grand Lounge.
Following the final race, The Lane will also host the highly-anticipated afterparty, so get your group of mates together and head down to Pukekohe Park this Saturday, November 22, for a great day of entertainment.
