Hi Yo Sass Bomb has become a horse of a lifetime for New Plymouth trainer Kim Reid, and she is hoping to further her dream ride with her pride and joy at Ellerslie on Saturday.

Saturday’s Gr.3 Wentwood Grange Cuddle Stakes (1600m) at Trentham delivered multiple milestones for the connections of Taranaki mare Hi Yo Sass Bomb.

“She is one of those neat, progressive horses, which I guess is what you like to see. She loves her work and her routine.”

Taranaki mare Hi Yo Sass Bomb has seen a fair bit of the country over the last few months but will stick closer to home this week when she tackles the Landmark Homes City Of New Plymouth Cup (1800m) at New Plymouth Raceway on Friday.

New Plymouth trainer Kim Reid is looking at the New Zealand Cup carnival with a fair bit of regret following Hi Yo Sass Bomb’s dominant resuming victory at Hawera on Saturday.

Kim Reid has always thought there was something special about Hi Yo Sass Bomb, and the Taranaki horsewoman is delighted that her initial impression of the now four-year-old mare is coming to fruition.
