New Zealand’s apprentice jockey ranks went from strength-to-strength last term, and the standout performers were recently recognised at the Northern, Central Districts and South Island Apprentice Awards.
Apprentice jockey Jack Taplin sustained a broken wrist in Saturday’s shocking race fall at Riccarton Park, which involved four other jockeys including Bridget Grylls and Brandon May, who were also injured.
“If he doesn’t make those races there are still events like the Metric Mile (Gr.3, 1600m) at Wanganui for him, so we have plenty of options ahead of us.”
