Sugah Sweet came desperately close to winning last year’s Listed Clubs NZ Wairarapa Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes (1600m) and on Thursday she’ll get another chance at the Tauherenikau feature in a similar vein of form.
Stakes performer Sugah Sweet showed she is back to her best when comfortably taking care of a handy line-up in the Poverty Bay Turf Club Cup (1400m) at Taupo on Monday.
Sugah Sweet has been acquitting herself well, despite having little luck in strong company this preparation, and she looks well-placed to turn her fortunes around at Tauherenikau on Tuesday.
Northern hoop Ryan Elliot will head home to Horowhenua this weekend where he is favoured to bring home the lion’s share of the $300,000 purse in the Gr.1 El Cheapo Cars WFA Classic (1600m) at Otaki on Saturday.
