North Island raider Raziah produced a brilliant burst of speed to make it back-to-back victories at stakes level when she took out the Gr.3 Barneswood Farm Stakes (1400m) at Ashburton on Saturday.
Tony Pike will chase stakes features at both domestic venues on Saturday but will need withdrawals for a crack at the biggest prize on offer this weekend.
“Matt’s riding really well. We’ve formed a great relationship with him since he came across from Australia. He gave this filly a peach of a ride today, tracking behind the speed and getting her out at the right time.”
Fillies have dominated recent editions of the Listed John Turkington Forestry Ltd Castletown Stakes (1200m), and Tony Pike is hoping Raziah can be next on the honour roll this Saturday at Wanganui.
