Group Three winner Spencer scored a confidence-boosting win at Ruakaka on Saturday ahead of his return to stakes company in the Gr.2 Waikato Stud Foxbridge Plate (1200m) at Te Rapa later this month.
Group Three winner Spencer was runner-up in the Listed Opunake Cup (1400m) two years ago when ridden by Lisa Allpress, and he will reunite with the returning jockey in this year’s edition where the pair will aim to go one better on Saturday.
“There are still a couple of races after that to find out if we can get into the Melbourne Cup, and if not, there is some good money on offer over there.”
