Promising four-year-old Tristar ended a frustrating run of minor placings when she thrust her nose out at just the right time to win the Thanks Bernard Kneebone – 25 Years On The Clock (1200m) at Te Rapa in a thrilling three-way finish.

It was a memorable day for Andrew Scott on Friday, firstly hearing the news his daughter was awarded the NZTR McKenzie Future Leaders Scholarship before he went to Te Rapa where he and training partner Lance O’Sullivan recorded a winning treble.

Proven stars from Wexford Stables were out in force at Tuesday’s Taupo trials as they limbered up for important assignments on the horizon.
