With the curtain coming down on the racing career of Te Akau Racing’s 10-time Group One winner Imperatriz yesterday, they are now looking forward to unveiling their next future star, which could very well come at Riccarton on Saturday.
Te Akau Racing mare Elegant Lady will look to build on her burgeoning South Island record when contesting the Gr.3 Valachi Downs South Island Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes (1600m) at Riccarton Park on Saturday.
Trainers Mark Walker and Sam Bergerson are casting their eyes towards stakes targets with their in-form mare Elegant Lady following her win in the Cochranes Of Canterbury (2200m) at Ashburton on Wednesday.
Te Akau Racing are hoping they can whet their appetite for Group racing at Trentham on Saturday with a couple of entrees at New Plymouth and Riccarton earlier in the week.
