One of New Zealand racing’s most famous families has lost another member, with the recent passing of Martin Dennis, aged 82.

“She was very dominant once again, she won pretty comfortably and she’s a very progressive mare."

The Dennis Brothers’ contribution to Southland racing will be acknowledged by their peers at Ascot Park on Thursday where the Southland Racing Club will hold the ‘Dennis Brothers Dynasty Day’.

“We’ll continue to breed horses, it’s just the training we’ve given up."

“We ran her fresh in the Pegasus last year and she ran a very good race for third, so we’re sticking to that same plan again this time around."

Trainer Lisa Latta always had faith that five-year-old galloper He’s A Doozy had the ability to make it to the top echelon and that belief was rewarded at Trentham on Saturday when he ploughed through to win the Gr.1 Harcourts Thorndon Mile (1600m).

Thoroughbred breeders from around the country will gather at the Sir Don Rowlands Event Centre at Karapiro on Saturday.
