An investment in an English mare more than 30 years ago is continuing to reward Blandford Lodge, with a homebred descendant successful on the opening day of The Championships at Randwick.
The opening race on a star-studded card at Randwick on Saturday was dominated by New Zealand-breds, with Loving Cilla and Philipsburg running first and second in the A$120,000 Midway Handicap (1800m).
Three-year-old gelding Oceans Above continues to improve with racing, with the Simon Zahra-trained galloper closing from back in the field to score in the VRC Member Cameron Ryan Plate (1600m) at Flemington on Saturday.
