Masterton Racing Club was formed in 1872 and holds its race meeting at Tauherinikau in March each year. The Masterton Cup is the perfect opportunity to enjoy a day out with friends and work colleagues! The Club also has training facilities available at its base Opaki Racecourse just 5 minutes from Masterton.

Club History
Masterton Opaki JC was formed in 1872 after racing at various venues from mid-1860’s. Racing began at Opaki on Boxing Day in 1885. The name changed to the Masterton RC on 12 Aug 1896. 102 years later, on 23 Oct 1987 the last meeting was held at Opaki Course, Masterton RC now race at Tauherenikau
